Home

I arrived at Calcutta this morning, and it already feels like I have been here a long time. The Calcutta railway station was a happy surprise compared to the its Delhi counterpart which incidentally happened to gnaw me up with a concomitant stench of stale urine and rotting sacks.

Well, I always manage to come up with great stories when I am travelling, because India is great like that, and also when I am travelling I am forced to look beyond the four square meters of space around me and realise that dirty roads, greasy perverted men, people about a kilometer below the poverty line do actually exist and I get to see them first hand. You will probably get to drawl through an excessively over-done post with all of those details stashed into paragraph-long sentences, sometime soon. Because I realised a lot of things whilst my 18 hour-long train journey, and the 2 hour-long car ride to the station before that - taking in the whole 1512 km journey from college to home.

Anyway, that was just an update.

But what I really need to mention is how I finally understood why women are treated like they are a bunch of slugs incapable of lifting heavy objects.

Why? Because when you are dealing with 40 plus kilos as a lone female, you wish for nothing more than Superman on hire, and some kind of genetic hypermutation to miraculously regenerate the bones you broke and the muscles you snapped from lugging around the said weight literally half way through the Indian subcontinent.
